Pinellas Tweaking Vaccine Appointment Process For Seniors – Bay News 9

It’s been a frustrating process for many seniors trying to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Now, Pinellas County is making some changes to hopefully improve the process.

Instead of you having to call and try to get your appointment, now the Pinellas Health Department will contact seniors when it’s their turn to be vaccinated.

Residents do need to be registered, though.

Pinellas County started using the new software last month to try to ease the problems people had getting through on the old system, which kept crashing.

The new software still hasn’t been problem free, though.

Now, residents who are ages 65 or older who have pre-registered will receive a text message or email as vaccine appointments become available.

Once they receive that message, they have 48 hours to book appointments for both doses of the vaccine.

The County will only contact as many people as they have vaccines available, in the order in which they signed up. Only one text or email will be sent.
