Lancaster County Prison held a mass vaccination clinic Tuesday for inmates and staff members.It was the first mass vaccination program at the prison since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.Nearly 200 inmates were immunized, which is about a quarter of the population.The doses were provided by Vaccinate Lancaster and administered by PrimeCare.Warden Cheryl Steberger hopes the clinic is a big step forward.”It’s exciting because it helps everyone out. It’s helping my staff, the inmates and our community as a whole, so this is good,” she said.The warden said there is only a handful of COVID-19 cases in the prison right now, but about half of the nearly 700 inmates contracted the coronavirus at some point.
