Iowa reports 3 additional COVID-19 deaths, 547 new positive tests – KCCI Des Moines

The Iowa Department of Public Health on Wednesday reported 547 new positive COVID-19 tests and three additional deaths.At 10 a.m., the health department reported 393,458 total positive tests, 345,977 total recoveries and 5,930 total deaths since the start of the pandemic. Twenty-four hours earlier, the health department reported 392,911 total positive tests and 5,927 total deaths.The health department’s reporting of vaccine numbers appears to be stuck at numbers reported Tuesday afternoon. There have been 2,251,036 vaccine doses administered and 999,451 individuals fully vaccinated in the state.Iowa’s test positivity rates are continuing to show declines. The 7-day average fell from 3.9% to 3.8% and the 14-day average dropped from 4.1% to 4%. There have been 4,779,291 tests administered in Iowa.The number of Iowans hospitalized with the virus is holding steady under 200. There are 184 patients hospitalized, a number unchanged from the previous day. There are 37 patients in ICU and 24 patients on ventilators.Iowa continues to report one long-term care facility outbreak. The Urbandale Health Care Center reports 18 positive cases and 13 recoveries among residents and staff within that facility.
